Workshop Objectives

Learners who actively engage and participate in this workshop will be able to:

  • Identify the relationship between mental health issues and obesity, including common causes and risk factors.
  • Apply a comprehensive approach to assessing and developing team-based treatment plans for mental health related factors contributing to obesity management.
  • Implement care plans for managing obesity and mental health based on the 2020 Canadian Obesity Guidelines

This Continuing Professional Development Workshop is accredited by University of Toronto, Temerty Faculty of Medicine for Mainpro+ and Section 1 credits/hours. Upon successful completion of all requirements of this workshop, attendees can claim 3.0 hours/credits.

Who Should Register?

All healthcare teams and providers (i.e. nurses, physicians, social workers, occupational and physical therapists etc.), as well as managers and administrators in primary care, hospital, long-term care and community care settings who are working with patients and families to address complex care issues, with a particular focus on co-existing mental and physical needs may register.

About the Medical Psychiatry Collaborative Care Certificate (MP3C)

MP3C is a University of Toronto accredited Continuing Professional Development Certificate program and has been approved as a Certificate of Completion in Continuing Professional Development for 39.0 hours.

This certificate program supports learning in integrated mental and physical collaborative health care and aims to provide education resources for health care teams and providers who would like to be better equipped to assess and manage patients with co-existing mental and physical health needs.
